Who’s NVC Coaching for?

Anyone! Using the framework of Nonviolent Communication I’ve supported people from diverse cultures and backgrounds to transform the way they relate to others and circumstances in their work and personal lives.

You are welcome to bring any situation where you’d like to see change. It may be that you are:

  • Under pressure and overwhelmed

  • Unclear about your purpose and direction in life

  • Upset about a particular issue

  • In conflict and reacting in ways that aren’t good for your relationships

  • Uncertain in the face of a decision

  • Giving yourself a hard time

You made the right atmosphere, with a combination of structure and spontaneity, to help me reflect in a way that I had not done either on my own or in conversation with others. And it helped me make a tricky life choice.
— David, economist

What are the benefits?

People who come for coaching, even after a few sessions, report being:

  • more comfortable in their own skin and more accepting of their flaws

  • better able to stay grounded whilst experiencing intense emotions

  • clearer about what they want and how to take action to fulfil their wishes and dreams

  • more confident and speaking up in situations where they might previously have held back

  • calmer in the presence of words or behaviour they don’t like

  • less reactive and able to respond from a balanced place in tricky conversations

  • in satisfying relationship with others more often

Whatever situation you are facing NVC coaching can bring clarity, inner calm and a sense of empowerment. It helps you see the humanity in others and experience greater connection with them, even if their opinions or background differ hugely from yours. Intra-personal and interpersonal shifts can also have positive impacts on collaboration and productivity in teams and communities.

Working with Cath has been one of the single most transformative experiences of my life. Her warmth and wisdom have guided me through some huge personal challenges and helped me to discover feelings of love, compassion and peace in myself that I never knew existed. I used to think that these things were ´just for other people’ and now, even with all these difficult circumstances, I’ve had direct, personal experience of them. From day to day I feel happier, more competent and calmer than I ever imagined was possible..

How would we work together?

Initially we’d meet for a 30 minute free consultation, so I can get a sense of how I may be of service and so you can see whether coaching with me feels right.

We will use a Needs-based framework to get to the heart of what matters most to you and find clear strategies for creating the changes you want. We will bring curiosity, emotional intelligence and the power of calm presence to your life situations, and tap into your innate wisdom to transform the challenges you face. We will be following your agenda, not mine. Being committed to the process with honesty, openness and reflectiveness is what allows transformation to happen.

It isn’t necessary to have any training in NVC to benefit from these sessions. In fact, 121 coaching is one way of learning NVC.

As standard, I suggest three 60 min conversations the first month, then two sessions a month for some months, and longer intervals as you gradually internalise the work we do. I suggest you commit yourself to a minimum of three months’ NVC coaching. If you have other ideas of how you want to work with me, I am open to that, too. I work online or on the phone. If you are seeking NVC coaching please contact me and we can arrange an initial meeting.

I have completed an intensive training in Needs-based Coaching and I am working towards membership of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I receive regular supervision through a peer network and engage in CPD.

Thank you again for taking the time to clarify the things that are most important, and for providing a space that feels very safe for me to explore, it really means a huge amount to me.
